Sevilla’s Unai Emery named Liga BBVA manager of the month for January

The LFP has named Sevilla manager Unai Emery the Liga BBVA Manager of the Month for January, after winning four out of five games in La Liga and taking his side back to the Champions League places.

Sevilla’s only loss in January came to Valenica, but due to the Andalusian’s form, they were able to bounce back and actually leap frog Valencia to finish the month in fourth place.

Sevilla earned points against Celta Vigo, Almería, Málaga and Espanyol, who they lost to in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals, while finishing the month with nine goals scored and three allowed in five matches.

The LFP also announced that Girona manager Pablo Machín was named the Liga Adelante manager of the month for January, who led his team to an ubeaten start of the year which was highlighted by three wins away from home, eight goals to two allowed and a second place standing.
